Gauge

The gauge is not really that important with this pattern, aslong as the finished fabric is tight enough not to allow the stuffing to poke through.

To Make up

Block pieces.
Weave in any unused threads as you go. Bury any other ends into body of carrot once stuffed.
Embroider eyes and mouth in place.
Thread the yarn tail through the centre of the i-cord at the top of the carrot body and use to sew up back seam, stuffing carrot as you go. Run yarn through cast on edge pulling up tightly and secure.
Sew back seam of skirt together.
Sew "cast off" edge of skirt to bottom of carrot.
Stitch arms and legs in place, thread "cast on" tails through centres of arms and legs, hiding them in the carrot body.
